After snubbing the Lakers, Dan Hurley extends at UConn until 2030!

On June 10, in the heart of the NBA Finals, Dan Hurley surprised everyone by turning down a $70 million offer from the Lakers! A two-time NCAA champion, the Connecticut coach has a dream job, and next year he has the chance to make college basketball history with a hat trick.

As proof that he feels good at UConn, he has just signed a six-year, $50 million contract. He is now under contract until 2030! To this contract, we must add a whole bunch of bonuses, which range from his availability with the media to a loyalty bonus estimated at one million dollars per year.

“It is an honor to coach basketball at UConn and represent this world-class institution and the great state of Connecticut,” said Dan Hurley in a statement. “We are extremely proud of the title-winning program we have rebuilt for our supporters and fans. We will continue to obsessively pursue titles and historic success, while continuing to develop very good youngsters. Bleed Blue!”

Arriving in 2018 at the head of UConn, he has a record of 141 wins for 58 losses (71% of victories), with two titles won in 2023 and 2024. These last two seasons, the Huskies have won 67 out of 78, with only victories of 10 points or more during the two “March Madness”.

Despite major losses this summer, such as Donovan Clingan, Stephon Castle and Tristen Newton, UConn is among the favorites to succeed him next season with the return of Alex Karaban and the arrival of Liam McNeeley.
