The Wolves were quick to respond to Kyle Anderson's departure to the Warriors. Minnesota thus records the arrival of the veteran Joe Ingles to replace him. The Australian signs a one-year contract for $3.3 million per season.
Joe Ingles will be reunited with some familiar faces at the Wolves. Rudy Gobert and Mike Conley are former teammates with whom he played during his time at the Jazz, between 2014 and 2022.
Above all, the Wolves are securing the services of an excellent shooter. Even if he is clearly losing speed on the physical level, last year, Joe Ingles (36 years old) still converted 43.5% of his 3-point shots with the Magic. He also accumulated 4.4 points, 2.1 rebounds and 3.6 assists on average in 17.2 minutes of play.
His understanding with Rudy Gobert on the pick-and-roll could be very useful in Minnesota, while it was in this area that Kyle Anderson was particularly valuable for the Wolves.
PJ Dozier has relaunched in Europe
This is not the only signing of the evening for the Wolves who have also repatriated PJ Dozier after a year in Europe. The 27-year-old guard/winger spent a year in Serbia with Partizan Belgrade. He averaged 8.8 points, 2.9 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game this season.
After a torn ACL in 2021, PJ Dozier struggled to find a team in the NBA. He had also signed a contract with the Wolves in September 2022. But the guard will only have played with the G-League team, the Iowa Wolves.
At the beginning of 2023, the player had played a few games in the Kings jersey, but without ever managing to make a place for himself in the Californian squad. The bet to relaunch on the Old Continent therefore worked.
This is an additional role player for the Wolves who have very little money to spend this summer and who can only sign players at the minimum, outside of extensions. This will be the case for PJ Dozier, as for Luka Garza who was extended a little earlier this week.
