Suns still looking for a point guard

“There’s no question we have to look at the entire roster and talk about point guard. It’s a hot topic here, whether it’s with you guys, the media, the players, the front office. We have to think about it. We have to be able to play without one. We probably have to have one. We have to be versatile. We have to play different ways: bigger, smaller. I think point guard has a place.”

Mike Budenholzer was asked about the lack of a true point guard on the Suns roster upon taking over, and the search for a “floor general” appears to be a priority this offseason in Phoenix.

Local “insider”Gerald Bourguet reports that the club was interested in the profiles of Kris Dunn, Monte Morris or Kyle Lowry. For the first, who was already the least realistic option of the lot, it's already dead since he chose to commit to the Clippers. It must be said that with their finances in the scarlet red, with a “Big Three” that takes 150 million dollars of annual salaries, the Suns do not have a lot of latitude.

So they have to recruit at minimum wage, and interesting leaders (defensive and organizers) at that price are rare. Monte Morris is perhaps the most interesting option, provided that no one offers him more money. For his part, Kyle Lowry should stay with the Sixers, according to rumors obtained by Marc Stein, the Philadelphia native not wanting to move away from his family at this stage of his career.

Otherwise, a return of Cam Paynewho had his best seasons in the NBA with the Suns, is a possibility.
