Bam Adebayo to extend for $166 million in Miami

It had been expected for several weeks and The Associated Press Then The Athletic announced the news: Bam Adebayo will re-sign with the Heat, for three years and $166 million. In other words the maximum he could obtain from his leaders!

In the prime of his life (27 years old in July), the All-Star center took the reins of Miami ahead of Jimmy Butler, given his status as captain of the franchise, who never makes waves, and a robust player who keeps going in matches. As he is also productive (18.7 points, 9.8 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.2 interceptions and 1.0 against over the last five years), his extension seemed obvious.

Bam Adebayo was under a guaranteed contract until 2026 and now he is linked to the Heat until 2029. In the event of an appearance on an All-NBA Team this season, he could obtain $245 million over four years (the “ super max “), but he was ultimately not selected and must therefore “make do” with 166 million dollars over three years.

Now guarantor of the “Heat Culture” so dear to Pat Riley and Erik Spoelstra, the former Kentucky resident is settling in Florida for the long term and his mission will be to bring his franchise back to the top, which has never most successful since 2013. In addition to consolidating its place among the best interiors in the league…
