Kansas City tight end signs lucrative two-year contract extension.
The Chiefs win, and in particular thanks to their All-Pro tight end. And it will last. According to NFL Network, Travis Kelce has signed a two-year contract extension with his club, making him the highest-paid tight receiver in the NFL. The deal would see him committed until 2027.
In the final year of his previous $16.25 million commitment, Kelce will surpass the $17 million annual salary mark.
At 34, he is coming off a less productive year by his own standards with 93 receptions for 984 yards and 5 touchdowns in 15 games. This is the first time since 2015 that he has not crossed the 1,000 yard mark, but his connection with Patrick Mahomes cannot be questioned. In the playoffs this year he caught for 355 yards and 3 touchdowns, to win the Chief's third title in five years.
“I told you I wasn't going to let him go,” Mahomes said, according to ESPN. “Congratulations dude!! »
