Vikings move up one spot for JJ McCarthy

It was an expected pick, and Minnesota only needed a tiny trade to secure it. Going from 11th to 10th by sending a 4th and 5th round to the Jets, the Vikings select their new starting quarterback with JJ McCarthy.

In this first exchange of the evening, Minny will not have had to give their second first round. A great deal that will allow the franchise to return to the clock later in the evening.

National champion with Michigan McCarthy was used only sparingly by Jim Harbaugh in a system where the running game was in the spotlight. However, the young quarterback has shown flashes of promise that give hope for a bright future. After Cousins' departure to the Falcons, the starting position beckoned to him from the first week.
