Dak Prescott (Cowboys): “I’m not trying to be the highest paid quarterback”

The race for records does not interest Dak Prescott financially.

The Cowboys pitcher is entering the final year of his contract. At just 30 years old, he could land a huge check to extend his lease in Dallas.

For the moment, negotiations have not really started. And that doesn't seem to bother Prescott, who responded to ESPN on the sidelines of a charity gala.

“I am focused on the present. I've always been like that. […] I've been in this situation before and it's OK. I'll be fine in any situation, even if I have to bet on myself and play this year without signing an extension. »

Dak Prescott had indeed played the last year of his rookie contract without having a contract extension in place. He was then tagged.

Dak Prescott happy in Dallas… or elsewhere

As each contract signed in the NFL seems bigger than the last, Prescott can claim to take the record, at least for a few weeks.

The bar was set at $55 million per season by Joe Burrow. Justin Herbert and Lamar Jackson clock in at 52 million. Prescott ends a contract at 40 million per season.

But again, he is serene.

“No, I’m not necessarily trying to be the highest paid. We're going to wait for the negotiations to start and we want to put this team in the best situation. »

More surprisingly, number 4 is not afraid to say that he is ready to play anywhere.

“I'm not going to say I'm afraid to be here or not. Honestly, I'm not afraid of any situation. I love playing, progressing as a player and with my teammates. Currently it's with the Dallas Cowboys. This is where I want to be, this is where I am and this is where I am focused. And after this season we will see where we are and what the future holds for us. And if it doesn't happen, we'll let you know. »

Dak Prescott threw 36 touchdowns for 9 interceptions last season. A campaign ended with the best evaluation of his career, but another premature exit in the playoffs.
