Possible first choice, Zaccharie Risacher registers for the 2024 Draft

Without surprise, Zacharie Risacher has started the process to register for the 2024 Draft, ESPN announcement. A logical choice for the young French winger (2m08, 19 years old) since he could be called up in first position.

“I always dreamed of playing in the best league in the world”he explains. “I have worked there since I was a child. JL Bourg gave me an incredible opportunity to show what I can do. It was the perfect place to start my young career. I'm really grateful to have the opportunity to play for this club. »

From now on, it's time for the NBA for Stéphane's son, who averages 9.7 points and 3.5 rebounds in 22 minutes in Betclic Elite, with a 43% success rate including 34% from distance. In the EuroCup, a competition where he reached the final with his club (lost to Paris), and where he was voted best prospect, Zaccharie Risacher averaged 11.3 points and 3.3 rebounds in 23 minutes per game, 50% shooting success including 45% from distance.

“I know the NBA Draft is not the end, it’s just the beginning”

“There are a lot of things I can bring to an NBA team”he assures in his announcement to ESPN. “First of all, my main strength is my shooting. Then, my defensive qualities. And finally, my ability to do what is asked of me, using my versatility – I can go to the rebound, bring the ball up if necessary, finish above the circle, pass the ball. Whatever you ask me, I will do it and I will do it well.”

But if he is still announced in first place by ESPN, other “Mock Draft” have pushed him down the hierarchy a little in recent weeks. This is because, unlike Victor Wembanyama, he is not an indisputable first choice, within a vintage which does not have players seen as “game changers” in the NBA.

“My goal at the start of the season was to be picked as high as possible, like any competitor. But I won't be angry or disappointed if I'm not number 1 or 2. I want to be the best, but I also want to achieve my dreams.” he tempers, however. “I know the NBA Draft is not the end, it’s just the beginning. This is why I now place less importance on being first choice. »

As a reminder, Detroit and Washington each have a 14% chance of landing the first choice in the 2024 Draft, just ahead of Portland (13.3%), Charlotte (13.3%), San Antonio (10.5%) and even Toronto (9%).
