Despite the elimination, Stephen Curry is enthusiastic about the young Warriors

The Warriors are at a time of questioning after ending their season with a big loss to Sacramento during the play-in. The question of extending Klay Thompson (0/10 shooting for 0 points in 32 minutes last night) is already fueling discussions, just like the future of this dynasty on the downward slope with this elimination at the gates of the playoffs.

After the meeting, Stephen Curry And Steve Kerr however, praised the good performance of the young hard core of the squad during the season and again this night, citing Brandin Podziemski, Trayce Jackson-Davis, Jonathan Kuminga And Moses Moody. Upon arrival, the quartet was even part of the rare positive points of the match, notably with 16 points each for the Moody-Kuminga pair, and will have to continue on this path next season if Golden State wants to hope to redress the bar.

“A lot was asked of Brandin Podziemski, Trayce Jackson Davis… Jonathan Kuminga took a big leap forward, a big step in the right direction. They benefited from invaluable experience. They know how hard it is to win in this league, and what it takes to be consistent game after game. I hope it gave them confidence that they can contribute. We will continue this dynamic until this summer, when they will be able to implement their work”, said Stephen Curry during his appearance at a press conference.

And Curry even asks his leaders to insist on rejuvenating the workforce. “Whatever roster we have when we return, we are going to need youth to help us. We found some gems, that’s for sure. So it's just a matter of continuing to make adjustments as a team to see what the 2024-2025 Warriors look like, and what it will take for us to win. I think they felt that way all year long. I hope they will have learned some good lessons from it.”

Trust The Process

Steve Kerr also had a word for Moses Moody, highlighting his determination in a context that was not always easy for him throughout the season. Like last night's meeting, frustrating, with 16 points in 15 minutes for nothing.

“I think Moses has been thrown in and out of the rotation on a regular basis, but every time he's been called upon, like tonight, he's played really well.”, did he slip. “As for Jonathan, for their third year, they have really progressed. And Brandin Podziemski showed that he was a real player. Even though he's a rookie, that's why we played him so much. He's a great player. Trayce Jackson-Davis too, although he had a difficult match. It's a good experience for him to go through this. So we have a lot of good young players. It’s very promising.”

At the end of a tough evening, the Warriors hope to be able to count on their young guns to bounce back, with Stephen Curry at their head who remains more motivated than ever, and convinced that there is still room to reconnect with the summits.

“We know what we’re made of”added the leader. “We of course know that the league has changed, that we are further along in our careers, and that we must continue to evolve, make the necessary adjustments to win games. But we spent a lot of time on it. I worked harder than ever, preparing for the season, to be able to perform at the level of my expectations. And those two guys (Klay Thompson and Draymond Green) went through it all with me. At the end of the day, I just want to win, and I know it's completely possible. This summer, there's going to be a lot of conversations about putting ourselves in a position to win, whatever that means. And I hope we get there.”
