Mikal Bridges made his dream come true: to be a school teacher!

Playing in the NBA is every aspiring basketball player's dream, and Mikal Bridges achieved its objective. Having become the leader of the Nets, the former Villanova and Suns winger is one of the best wingers of his generation. But playing in the NBA was not Bridges' only dream, since he is already thinking about what comes next: becoming a school teacher!

At the beginning of March, the Brooklyn winger set foot in the classroom with his first day as a teacher. “My other dream was to be a primary school teacher” he tells CBS News. “ Helping children has always been one of my great passions. Why CE1? Because I loved CE1 when I was young. I feel like this is one of the years I really remember. I had a wonderful year. I had a great teacher, Mrs. Porter, and I feel like I always loved second grade.”

On March 11, he spent the day with CM1 students, and he was asked some relevant questions, like this one: “ How do you combine your personal life with your professional life? ». “I like this question”he admitted. “It’s not that bad, actually. I think the most important thing is time. In season, we don't have a lot of time because I travel a lot. But I've been doing this for about six years, so I've found a good balance between spending time with my friends, relaxing and preparing for matches. »

Facilities in math

After an hour of physical education and sports, it's time for workbooks and lessons. First there was a music class, then Bridges took over a math class. “Maths are easy for me” he assures. “I think I was probably one of the smartest students in our class. I was trying to help others, to teach them. I was trying to tell them, 'That's how I learned it and it's pretty simple for me that way. Think about it this way.”

At 27, Bridges still has a great career ahead of him, but he reiterates that he sees himself as a teacher after his retirement from sports. And why not even as director of an establishment.
