Jerome Baker will be finally a free agent! The linebacker and the Dolphins have not been able to agree on a contract restructuring, according to ESPN. Unsuccessful negotiations are the explanation for this decision. By parting ways with Baker, Miami avoids paying $10.7 million to the player and, in the process, allows the team to save $9.82 million in its payroll.
According to Adam Schefter, Miami would however have left the door open for a return of its linebacker in 2024. But for that, a satisfactory agreement for the Dolphins will be essential.
Main architect of the Dolphins defense, Jerome Baker joined the franchise in 2018. Drafted in the 3rd round, he started 82 of the 94 games he played with the team. In 2023, he makes a more than correct copy with 78 tackles, 1.5 sacks and two interceptions.
