Evan Fournier booed and yelled at by Knicks fans

How would Knicks fans welcome Quentin Grimes and Evan Fournier, transferred 20 days ago to Detroit? For the first, it will be applause. For the second, whistles! The Frenchman never flinched for more than a year while sitting at the end of the bench, but the Madison Square Garden crowd apparently has a grudge against him.

As proof, the audience stood up to applaud him when the Frenchman received a technical foul! Fournier preferred to laugh about it, and the two former Knicks almost had the last word since they caused misery to their former teammates in “money time”. If Evan Fournier did not appear at the press conference, it was Grimes who commented on the public reaction.

Records during his first season

“Yes, I was surprised” confesses Grimes about the whistles. “Evan was my veteran. He taught me a lot. When he was relegated to the bench, he was one of those who pushed me the most during my first year. Throughout my second year, he was one of the guys who told me what to do…”

For Grimes, New York audiences have short memories. “ In my rookie year what did he do? He broke the Knicks' 3-point records and was 4th or 5th in the entire NBA. So it wasn't nice to see from the fans, but I thought he did a lot for this team. When I was here, he was always there, always very professional… But these are Knicks fans, and that's how it goes. »
