The break did the Knicks a lot of good, who won 110-96 on the Sixers floor. A well-deserved success since Tom Thibodeau's players led by 21 points at halftime! Jalen Brunson's teammates even had a lead of up to 26 points against a team that was discovering Kyle Lowry.
Once again, Jalen Brunson was very good in his All-Star duel against Tyrese Maxey. Both greatly justified their stars, but Brunson clearly had more support with Bojan Bogdanovic on fire in the first half: 5 out of 5 from 3-point range! It is he who strikes twice, before the break, to send the Sixers to the ropes.
Brunson thwarts double holds
Joel Embiid absent, Precious Achiuwa reigned over the racket with a beautiful double-double, and the former Raptors interior took advantage of the two-handed holds on Brunson to make the difference. The All-Star leader, clumsy, made up for it with his accuracy in passing on two-handed shots.
In the 4th quarter, the Lowry-Maxey duo brought the Sixers back below the 10-point gap (95-88), but the 3-point skill of the Knicks will again make the difference with Donte DiVicenzo and Josh Hart.
What you must remember
–Villanova Connection. Crazy atmosphere in Philadelphia with the presence of Spike Lee! In New York, there are several players who passed through Villanova (Brunson, Hart and DiVicenzo), and the Philadelphia public has not forgotten them!
– Lowry's debut. A reverse layup. It was with a difficult basket, in traffic, that Lowry signed his baptism of fire in his new colors. A native of Philadelphia, the former NBA champion was entitled to a magnificent “standing ovation”, but also a nice bandage after a blow to the head!
– 3-point address. With a nice 15 out of 34 from 3-point range, the Knicks did a lot of damage to the Sixers defense, and more particularly Bogdanovic, author of a perfect 6 out of 6 from distance coming off the bench!
