Rob Manfred has been commissioner of the MLB since 2015. He has brought a lot to the world of baseball since then… and now his reign is over.
He confirmed that he will leave his post at the beginning of 2029. It is his decision.
In fact, he just started a five-year term. He recently announced to the owners that it was going to be his last.
He says there is something else in life and he wants to give up his place.
I wonder how he will be recognized. After all, the Astros scandal and the Oakland A's case was oddly handled by Manfred.
But at the same time, the league is making money and expansion is brewing. The new regulations are working well, too. In short, everything is not bad.
Note also that the commissioner would like free agents to sign more quickly, but that is not what happened this season.
MLB would have liked a format that would have favored quick signings, but that didn't happen.
