We've been holding our breath on the Knicks side since Saturday night, when Julius Randle fell heavily against the Heat, dislocating his right shoulder. Coach Tom Thibodeau had expressed his concern about the prospect of losing one of his strong men for a long period of time. However, since Tuesday, the various examinations reported by ESPN expressed their optimism. We thus evoke an absence which is counted more in weeks than in months.
The reason for this optimism? The interior should not have to go through the operation box. In addition, the break planned for mid-February during the All Star Weekend could offer him an additional period of rest without it costing the team, with the aim of a return around after February 20 .
Considered one of the favorites to be named among the Eastern replacements, Julius Randle should however be forced to give up the all-star game.
Especially since the Knicks' schedule will be increased after the break with a trip to Philadelphia on the 22nd and the reception of Boston on Saturday the 24th, which will launch a series of eight games out of nine at home.
“You have to hope for the best. This is where we are at the moment,” Tom Thibodeau said this weekend. “We knew that for him to come into the locker room, there was something. He's a guy who manages to play despite the difficulties, and that's what we love about him. He’s a warrior.”
Weighed down by a sprained left ankle at the end of the regular season, Julius Randle still played in the playoffs with the Knicks. The interior had gritted its teeth, but its effectiveness had taken a hit.
