Marcus Stroman agrees with the Yankees

For the past few days, we've heard that the Yankees and Marcus Stroman have been talking. However, we wondered if this would lead anywhere.

And now this evening, Stroman has published stories on Instagram under the colors of the Yankees.

So it seemed like it was only a matter of time before the Yankees and the pitcher came to terms on a contract.

It took a few minutes for we see informants talking about a two-year contract with a one-year option. He will have $37 million guaranteed, or $18.5 million per year.

He therefore turned $21 million from the Cubs (via a declined option) in several guaranteed years with the Yankees, the team of his childhood. He's a guy from New York.

He finished his 2023 poorly, but he was excellent before the All-Star break for the Cubs. Which version will appear in New York?

We'll see in due time.

Remember that in 2019, when he left Toronto, he wanted to go with his childhood team. Brian Cashman, however, said he saw him as only a piece of the bullpen.

This had insulted Stroman… but money talks, right?

He will therefore fight to be the club's second pitcher, behind Gerrit Cole. Carlos Rodon, Nestor Cortes Jr. and Clarke Schmidt should round out the rotation. Is it enough?

Let's see if this will prevent the Yankees from signing another good starting pitcher – or from going after one via trade.

Remember that between the Blue Jays and the Cubs, Stroman was in New York. He pitched with the Mets from 2019-21 before leaving as a free agent.
