Ja Morant asks Grizzlies to keep fighting

A 25-match suspension, 9 contested matches and a shoulder operation which ended his season. The 2023/24 campaign Ja Morant will remain marked by frustration and regrets Memphis.

Tuesday morning, the All-Star spoke to his teammates, ahead of the match against the Mavericks.

The message from Ja Morant, moved when speaking to his comrades? “He told us to stay focused and keep fighting” reports Desmond Banevery good in the process to bring down Dallas.

“Everyone feels sorry for Ja”explains Taylor Jenkins, Tennessee coach. “They know how hard he's worked this season and what he's done since he came back in the last two weeks. They care about each other, and they care about Ja, too. Obviously, they also know how much he cares about them and how much he supported them, even when he was away for the first 25 games. »

Prepare for next year

For Jaren Jackson Jr, the Grizzlies, who already had to do without their starting pivot, Steven Adams, this season, cannot do much. If not supporting their playmaker.

“We're just going to be there for our brother. There is no a miraculous recipe. We will be there for him. He has a great support system around him. His inner circle is small, so he’s going to be great.”

As for the Grizzlies, currently in 13th place in the West (14 wins – 23 losses), they will therefore follow the advice of their leader, and continue to fight.

“We are going to fight. This is all we can do.”concludes Marcus Smart. “This is what we know how to do. We're going to fight until we can't do it anymore. And that's all we can ask for: to fight until the end, because we understood that at the start of the season the odds were against us and that things affected our team. We understood that maybe it’s not a year with high expectations for us, but it’s a year to prepare ourselves the right way for next year.”
