Steve Kerr regrets the end of Jordan Poole's Warriors adventure

This summer, both parties seemed to have finally properly handled a divorce that was becoming more and more inevitable. While the Warriors were forced to make a choice following the punch of Draymond Green, Jordan Poole had joined Washington, cherishing the dream of becoming a “franchise player” after growing up in the shadow of Stephen Curry And Klay Thompson. For their part, the Warriors extended Draymond Green and thought they had found a good compromise by recovering Chris Paul.

A few months later, the results are mixed. On the one hand, Golden State continues to struggle, sitting in 11th place in the Western Conference while Draymond Green is suspended until further notice. On the other hand, Jordan Poole cannot really rejoice in his start to the season and that of his Wizards, the “go-to-guy” costume being for the moment far too big for him, his casual attitude annoying people in the capital.

A key player for the 2022 title

On the sidelines of the meeting between Golden State and Washington this evening, and therefore the reunion between the Warriors public and its former will-o'-the-wisp, wouldn't it be time for regrets? For his part, Steve Kerr lamented that Jordan Poole's adventure with the Warriors ended like this.

“It’s unfortunate that it happened this way. We would have liked things to end on a more positive note and in a more positive way,” did he declarehoping that the public will rise to the occasion. “Since this is his only visit to the Chase Center all year, this is our first opportunity to thank Jordan for his contribution, for helping us win a title. Without him, we don't win this title. Everyone here recognizes it. Our fans recognize it too, so Jordan is going to get a huge ovation.”

Steve Kerr also regretted the management of this internal incident which ultimately led to the departure of Jordan Poole.

“I look back on it and I hate that it happened. I know deep down that when the push came to shove, we handled it the best way in our eyes possible. But with hindsight, and we always judge better with hindsight, we could have done better, that's for sure. I hate the way things ended for Jordan, because he was a great success”added the Golden State and Team USA strategist. “For us and for him, it was a wonderful marriage. He helped us win a title. We helped him become a champion and sign a big contract, which changed his life. It was a great success. But I hate the way it ended.”

Jordan Poole has turned the page

His teammates Kevon Looney and Andrew Wiggins, with whom he was very close, for their part stressed that Jordan Poole had handled the situation as best he could until the end of last season, remaining professional. As for the main person concerned, he did not want to dwell on this reunion, ensuring that he had turned the page.

“It was a period of success. I learned a lot. You can't ask for much more than that. I also won a title. I played with Kevon Looney, Andrew Wiggins, some of the greatest players of all time. I met some great people, and the staff was good. It was a good experience, it was just amazing to be able to accomplish something you've wanted your whole life, to win a title at the highest level, to see what it takes.”, he confided.

As for how the Warriors handled his case, Jordan Poole simply kicked in, a way of showing himself focused on the present and his new adventure with the Wizards. “Honestly, I have to say I haven’t really thought about it. I haven't really taken the time to really think about it.” he dismissed.
