The Pelicans will have to do without their best shooter

The Pelicans had already had to do without him for a month. They will have to wait a few more weeks before finding Matt Ryan. This one suffered an arthroscopy at his right elbow.

Operated in a New York facility to remove floaters in his joint, the Pelicans shooter should remain in the infirmary for six to eight weeks. A new twist of fate for him, who missed the last few weeks of competition due to a calf injury.

Before these health problems, the 26-year-old was off to a very solid start. In 13 games, he who had benefited from the absences of Trey Murphy II and Naji Marshall, averaged 9 points while playing 22 minutes each evening. Other career records include his skill levels: 46% on shots, including 47% from distance, and 93% on free throws.

Which made him the best shooter on the team (not counting low volume players) ahead of Naji Marshall. We recall that Matt Ryan, cut in October by the Wolves, completed the Pelicans roster by signing a “two-way contract” at the start of the season.

Before relaunching in New Orleans, he was seen in Boston (one match in 2021/22), then at the Lakers, with whom he signed a memorable buzzer-beater against the Pelicans, and at the Wolves therefore, the season passed.
