[Preview] Week 14: the Cowboys ready to fight

After one of the Patriots' rare victories this season, it's now time for the rest of the NFL. Like last week, the Eagles are in the spotlight. After receiving the 49ers, the NFC champion travels to Dallas to maintain its supremacy in this conference against the Cowboys. This is THE match not to be missed this week.

We will also talk about a pitcher's duel, losses of balls from Brownsof Kyren Williams and of Shane Steichen. Here is the program for week 14.

The match: the turning point for the Cowboys

Kick-off during the night from Sunday to Monday 2:20 a.m.
Dallas Cowboys (9-3) – Philadelphia Eagles (10-2)

At the time of their victory against Dallas a few weeks ago, we thought Eagles far, out of reach in this NFC East. It was not knowing the Cowboys version 2023. This team has character and they have proven it by remaining undefeated since this meeting. And as at the same time, Philadelphia was unable to resist the 49ers last week, here are the partners of Jalen Hurts in danger. A victory separates the two teams. A success against their long-time rivals would allow the Cowboys to take the lead in the division and place very well in this conference. To do this, they must find the solution against the big teams.

Each time Dak Prescott and his teammates faced a favorite, they fell. During the last match in Pennsylvania, there was better, they resisted well by hanging on until the end. But if the players of Texas want to live up to their ambitions, that is no longer enough. This match is an opportunity for them to take a step forward. Side Eagles We know that a great team rarely loses two consecutive games. They took a call to order last Sunday, there is no doubt that they will succeed in AT&T Stadium reassembled. The objective being to bring down a team of Dallas who has not lost at home for 14 matches.

The duel: Patrick Mahomes vs. Josh Allen

Kick-off Sunday at 10:25 p.m.
Kansas City Chiefs (8-4) – Buffalo Bills (6-6)

A clash between Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen is never trivial. For the sixth time in their careers, the two men will cross paths in the NFL. For the moment, the Chiefs pitcher leads the way, three victories to one. But this rivalry has the opportunity to become one of the most legendary of the 2020s. At 28 and 27 years old respectively, the two men are likely to cross paths for many more years and deliver confrontations that are each more intense than the others.

Starting with this Sunday. The two teams (and their two quarterbacks) are not in their best form, but that is also what makes this meeting indecisive. Buffalo can't afford to fall again in this playoff race. As for the Chiefs, a 4th defeat in 6 games would be a task. Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen therefore have the pressure on their shoulders. Generally, it suits them well.

The stats: 24

Kick-off Sunday at 7:00 p.m.
Cleveland Browns (7-5) – Jacksonville Jaguars (8-4)

Here is the number of turnovers recorded by the Browns since the start of the season. In detail, these are 14 interceptions thrown (5 for PJ Walker, 4 for Watson, 4 for Dorian Thompson Robinson and 1 for Flacco) And 10 fumbles lost. A total which makes them the worst team in this sector (tied with the Vikings). It's difficult to win matches when you lose so much of the ball. However, so far, Cleveland has managed to resist and still has a positive balance sheet (7-5). But these errors are catching up with Kevin Stefanski's men who are left with two defeats in a row.

The problem is that this weekend they face one of the teams that causes the most turnovers. The Jaguars have indeed become masters in the art of getting their hands on opposing balls. Since the start of the season, Floridians have recovered 21 balloonsthe second best total in the league (behind the Broncos at 22). This battle of turnovers will therefore be the key in this meeting. If they don't reduce them, they risk having a bad night against the Jaguars.

The player: Kyren Williams

Kick-off Sunday at 7:00 p.m.
Baltimore Ravens (9-3) – Los Angeles Rams (6-6)

Who would have thought that a rookie running back would be so important to the Rams' offense in such a short time? Not many people. And yet, this is what is happening with Kyren Williams. The runner has become a vital cog in Sean McVay's offense. And it shows in the statistics. Injured during the season, Williams did not play all the matches, but in the 8 matches in which he participated, his team posted a record of 5-2.

Kyren Williams, running back for the Los Angeles Rams.

It must be said that with 687 yards gained on the ground and 7 TDs + 190 yards receiving and 3 TDs, his rookie year is more than correct. Above all, he offers a real fallback solution for Matthew Stafford, whether on the ground or in short passes. This Sunday, he will once again play a crucial role against the co-leader of the AFC. Baltimore collects on average 102.3 yards in running per game (11th in the league) and will have to find solutions to muzzle the young player.

Coach: Shane Steichen

Kick-off Sunday at 7:00 p.m.
Cincinnati Bengals (6-6) – Indianapolis Colts (7-5)

He is rarely mentioned in the race for coach of the year, yet Shane Steichen is a strong candidate for this title. Despite the obstacles, the first-year coach has put his team in an ideal position heading into the final games of the season. If the championship ended now, the Colts would be in the playoffs. A performance achieved despite the serious injury of the starting quarterback, Anthony Richardson, and despite the prolonged absences of one of the best runners in the league, Jonathan Taylor. From now on, the former offensive coordinator of the Eagles knows, we will have to keep up the pace. This Sunday, the Colts have a great opportunity to consolidate their position in the playoffs. In Cincinnati, they can put one of the Wild-Card contenders two games away. A victory would also allow them to stay in the wake of the Jaguars and continue to hope to win the division.

NFC South

Kick-off Sunday at 7:00 p.m.
Atlanta Falcons (6-6) – Tampa Bay Buccaneers (5-7)

Kick-off Sunday at 7:00 p.m.
New Orleans Saints (5-7) – Carolina Panthers (1-11)

Like last week, the NFC South is in the spotlight with three teams still in the race for final victory in this division. After their victory, Atlanta now leads the way, but the Buccaneers and the Saints are still only one game from the lead, despite their defeat last week. The Floridians are going to Mercedes Benz Stadium this weekend. After their defeat against the Falcons in week 7 (16-13) in Tampa Bay, Todd Bowles' men no longer have the right to make mistakes or risk seeing the hawks fly away. The Saints, for their part, want to take advantage of hosting the worst team in the league in terms of record, Carolina, to put pressure on their opponents. The two matches will be played at the same time, 7 p.m.this Sunday.

The (other) division duels

Kick-off Sunday at 7:00 p.m.
Chicago Bears (4-8) – Detroit Lions (9-3)

Kick-off Sunday at 10:05 p.m.
San Francisco 49ers (9-3) – Seattle Seahawks (6-6)

Kick-off Sunday at 10:25 p.m.
Los Angeles Chargers (5-7) – Denver Broncos (6-6)

Among other division duels, the Lions and Bears meet just three weeks after their first leg ». Detroit had won in difficulty (31-26) and will have to be wary of Justin Fields' partners again. Still in the NFC, in the West this time, the 49ers also find an opponent they recently faced: the Seahawks. Except that unlike the Lions, San Francisco easily won in Seattle (31-13).

If they stay serious, Kyle Shanahan's men should have no trouble getting rid of a team that has lost 4 of its last 5 games. Finally, in the AFC, the race for the Wild Cards is raging. The Broncos' series ended last week, but they are still waiting to grab a jump seat. For the Chargers, on the other hand, this reception represents their last chance to stay in the battle.

Double dose of MNF

Kick-off on the night of Monday to Tuesday at 2:15 a.m.
Miami Dolphins (9-3) – Tennessee Titans (4-8)

Kick-off on the night of Monday to Tuesday at 2:15 a.m.
New York Giants (4-8) – Green Bay Packers (6-6)

For once, we will be treated to not one, but two Monday Night Footballs this week. The two matches will be played at the same time in Miami and New York. The first will pit the Dolphins against the Titans. Mike McDaniel's men are still on fire offensively. Tyreek Hill, on the foundations of an MVP season, could have fun against the 22nd air defense in the league (230.8 passing yards conceded per game). Further north, the Giants host one of the fittest teams in the league. The Packers remain on three consecutive victories (and four in five matches). Matt LaFleur hopes to keep an immaculate record in December since he coaches the franchise to continue the rise in the standings.

The rest

Kick-off Sunday at 7:00 p.m.
New York Jets (4-8) – Houston Texans (7-5)

Kick-off Sunday at 10:05 p.m.
Las Vegas Raiders (5-7) – Minnesota Vikings (6-6)

In the rest of this weekend's meetings, the ballet of quarterbacks continues in New York. This time, Zach Wilson should regain his starting place. This Sunday he faces the Texans who have a series of 4 victories in the last 5 games. Despite a record of 7-5, Houston is only third in the AFC South division. The Steelers' defeat allows CJ Stroud's partners to hold on to the last Wild Card in the AFC for the moment, but they know that in the final sprint, their room for maneuver is small. This will also be the case for the Vikings, currently 6th in the NFC. Minnesota travels to Las Vegas for a meeting which should mark the return of Justin Jefferson to the field.
