First real outing for Taylor Hendricks

Before the regular season even started, Taylor Hendricks knew his playing time would be meager. The rest confirmed it since he only played two minutes between the first match and the second day of December.

Because before the match against the Blazers, and after 18 matches in a row without playing, he received a text from Keyonte George. “I told him to be ready.”says the rookie playmaker for the Deseret News.

Several Jazz players being absent (Lauri Markkanen and Kelly Olynyk), minutes were freed up. The interior, who was coming off a good game with 26 points in the G-League, was therefore recalled to be in action against Portland.

“I see what he’s doing with the Stars, the G-League team,” continues Keyonte George. “I think he can play a role with us, be the one who can defend on the opponent's best player, to frustrate him, help on defense, block shots. And we know he can make open shots. He can shoot. He just has to have confidence in himself. I am happy that the opportunity presented itself to him. »

Will Hardy focuses on his defense

Taylor Hendricks was entitled to 18 minutes against Chauncey Billups' troops. Time to score 5 points at 2/7 on the shoot, which are his first baskets of the season (he had only scored one free throw his first match), grab two rebounds and block two shots.

“I am more focused on his defense than on his attack,” specifies coach Will Hardy. “I think he had some good sequences, changing in defense, with some good counterattacks. It was good and I expect that from him. When you start someone for the first time, you hope that they won't break the rhythm of the team. It was not the case. His energy helped win this match. »

For Taylor Hendricks, it's logically a relief after long days waiting to get his chance. ” It feels good. I worked a lot in the G-League to improve and get there”he concludes.
