An epidural infiltration to relieve Ben Simmons

While he claimed to be back in great shape this season, Ben Simmons was quickly overtaken by physical problems. Affected in the back (nerve pinch) for almost a month, the Nets leader clearly cannot get rid of the pain. The Brooklyn franchise announced that he had received an epidural infiltration, a procedure consisting of an injection of corticosteroids in order to reduce local inflammation.

“The infiltration took place during the week. It was just part of the process of getting him back on the field, a step in his treatment, and his strengthening. It was just part of what's going to put him back in position to join us. There are no setbacks », assured Jacque Vaughn. “For now, he continues to do small exercises on the field. No rebounding drills, no sprinting. In two weeks, when he has strengthened, we will then have news for you, I hope.”

Even if Jacque Vaughn repeats that there is no relapse, the fact that Ben Simmons received an epidural infiltration almost a month after the start of his problems is clearly not good news.

And the coach must admit that the Australian, hampered by back problems for three years now, and a first injury with the Sixers, cannot do much at the moment. “He does light work” concedes the coach. “He has not yet been reintegrated into the rest of the group.”

It is therefore difficult to know when the All-Star will be able to return to the field, the only certainty being that he will miss the next two weeks of competition…
