Vlade Divac new ambassador for the Kings

Vlade Divac is never far away in Sacramento. The former pivot played six seasons in the colors of the Kings, between the end of the 1990s and the beginning of the 2000s (his jersey has been retired since 2009). Then, he spent the same number of years in another costume, that of manager and GM.

Since 2020, the former Lakers player has been replaced by Monte McNair, but he nevertheless continues to regularly attend the California franchise's matches. And for good reason : The Athletic tells us that he was named ambassador for the Kings in early November.

Luxury sales representative

What does this position consist of, which he has held unofficially since last season according to our colleagues? Essentially from the commercial aspect, relations with companies and Kings fans, to grow the franchise internationally. Vlade Divac has and will have no influence on the Kings' sporting decisions. Kind of like Scottie Pippen with the Bulls for many years.

The recent results, with the qualification for the playoffs last spring and the fifth place in the Western Conference currently, must rejoice him, he who declared at the time of his departure that his “satisfaction will come when the Kings start winning.”
