Stephen Curry will sacrifice golf to seek gold at Paris 2024

Winner of the celebrity golf tournament last July, including a one-shot, Stephen Curry will not defend his title next season. It’s for a good cause since he chose to defend the colors of the United States at the 2024 Olympic Games.

“For me, there is no conflict” he assures. “The tournament will always be there, while Paris 2024 is only once. The choice is therefore easy.”

The first athlete to win this tournament since 2000, but also the first African-American to win it at all, Curry is very keen on this trophy, but he must therefore make a choice, and the possibility of completing his record with a gold medal Olympic surpasses everything.

What if Steve Kerr granted him an exemption…

“The quest for a gold medal is the only thing that can make me miss Tahoe (tournament venue)” continues the Warriors leader. “I don’t know what the schedule will look like next summer. I remain expectant regarding this process. But I’ve said before that I want to go to the Olympics and I’m going to do whatever it takes to prepare and participate in training camp, playoffs, and everything else. »

Not selected in 2012, then forfeited in 2016 and 2020, Curry is determined to participate in the 2024 Paris Olympics. Especially since it will be with Steve Kerr as coach, and Curry says to himself that perhaps, he will let him go play in fully prepared…

“I know the coach of the Olympic team well… Maybe he will give me a little three-day break to rest and recharge in Tahoe before I join the team. We’re going to have to discuss it.” quips Curry.
