Mangiapane will have to explain himself

Calgary Flames forward Andrew Mangiapane will have a hearing before the National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety for his actions against Seattle Kraken forward Jared McCann.

Mangiapane was ejected from Saturday night’s game midway through the first period after double-checking McCann’s neck while the latter was lying on the ice.

McCann temporarily left the game before returning to the game afterwards. He spent 11 minutes 19 seconds on the ice, maintaining a minus-1 rating.

Giordano absent from Maple Leafs practice
