That’s it: the Texas Rangers are the World Series champions. This leaves only five clubs that have never won the big trophy: the Rays, the Brewers, the Rockies, the Mariners and the Padres.
What that means is that several players have gotten their hands on a World Series ring.
If I told you a year ago that Max Scherzer and Jacob deGrom were going to win the World Series together, you would have believed me if I told you that deGoat was injured…but not that they were playing in Texas.
Nathan Eovaldi and Aroldis Chapman are also among the people who got their hands on a second World Series ring. Will Smith won his third ring… in a row. #Atlanta #Houston #Texas
Marcus Semien won his first title, as did the majority of his teammates.
But there are two men who deserve some attention: manager Bruce Bochy and World Series MVP Corey Seager.
Corey Seager was named the World Series MVP for the second time in his career. He joined a unique group of players who have two titles: Reggie Jackson, Sandy Koufax and Bob Gibson.
Just that.
Of the lot, Seager and Jackson are the only two who have done it with two different franchises. And Seager is the only one who has done it in both leagues.
Seager, who has a ring in 2020 and one in 2023, therefore enters the big leagues with his great performance in the World Series. Without Adolis Garcia, he got up at the right time.
But what about Bruce Bochy?
If the veteran agreed to come out of retirement to return to the field, it was to win. Chris Young knew how to bring in the right manager to lead Texas to the highest heights.
Now here he is, after creating a dynasty in San Francisco, a member of the group of managers with four World Series rings.
Only five other men are in the category and Bochy therefore finds himself tied for fourth place in history in this regard.
Bochy has managed to create a family atmosphere in Texas. Without him, the club would never have been able to make it through the playoffs with such a thin succession, in my opinion.
He deserves all the flowers that can be thrown at him. After all, without him, the cities of San Francisco and Arlington would not have a World Series…
- Max Scherzer is a happy guy.
- The trophy has been around for 10 years.
- The parade will take place on Friday.
- Nate Lowe thinks about his mother, who is sick.
- Five victories for Nathan Eovaldi in the 2023 series.
