The 8 lessons of week 7: Lamar Jackson attractive

Lamar Jackson is back!

The impression is less visually strong than during his MVP season. But in a certain “anonymity”, Lamar Jackson is having a very interesting start to the season.

With 1,610 passing yards, 8 touchdowns and 71% of completed passes (career record at the moment), Lamar especially looks comfortable in the new offensive system. Helped by a few more targets than in previous seasons, the quarterback seems more precise and “applied” in his readings.

Sunday’s performance against the Lions (3 touchdowns and 357 yards thrown) illustrates this perfectly. With this Lamar Jackson there, the Ravens can hope to play spoilsport in the AFC.

Bill’s 300th

It arrived when we least expected it. In great difficulty for several weeks, the Patriots took on the Bills this weekend!
A victory which allows Bill Bellichick to win his 300th game in the NFL regular season. If the coach seems a little outdated lately, he nonetheless remains a living legend of this sport.

The Dolphins fail the test again

The Dolphins are off to a very good start to the season (5-2). But, the Dolphins once again failed a big test. After a loss to the Bills, this time it’s against the Eagles. That’s 2 defeats against teams with a positive record. For the moment, Miami has only beaten teams with a negative record: Chargers, Patriots, Giants, Panthers and Broncos.

Obviously this post question. If the offense is not really the issue, the defense led by Vic Fangio seems to be the factor that tips the scales in the wrong direction.

We forgot Myles Garrett

TJ Watt, Nick Bosa, Micah Parsons… The three defenders often come up in discussions regarding the best defender in the NFL. To the point that Myles Garrett may have been a little “snubbed”.

But this Sunday, the player reminded that we must count on him for the title of defender of the year. Garrett put out an XXL performance in his team’s victory: 2 sacks, 2 forced fumbles and 1 spectacularly blocked kick.

Brandon Staley is in danger

A record of 2 wins for 4 losses, a defense that has been underperforming for quite some time and far too many individual errors, stupid fouls… Brandon Staley’s Chargers look more and more like a team that is falling apart.

The squad is perhaps not as complete and qualitative as many imagine, but Staley necessarily has his part in the underperformance and disappointing performances. After 2 seasons in LA and zero playoff victories, Staley does not have the capital to save himself.

Washington is not going anywhere

Defeat against the Bears at 0-4, defeat against the Giants at 1-5, defense which disappoints and attack which alternates hot and cold, even very bad like this Sunday. Despite the 3 victories, we don’t really know what this Washington team is worth and where it’s going. Well yes, probably in the “average team” zone. An area all too familiar to Ron Rivera. The time for change is coming.

Derek Carr is bad

After 7 weeks, the observation is the same for Derek Carr… We say more in the podcast debrief of the match.

We need to give Kyle Pitts more of the ball

Even if we are on a higher base than last year, Kyle Pitts is still too little targeted in the Falcons attack. Yet the talent is there!
