15 home runs in their last four home games: the Phillies are on fire

Yesterday, Diamondbacks starter Merrill Kelly hit the nail on the head when he mentioned that he didn’t think Philadelphia’s Citizens Bank Park was going to be that noisy after his departure.

Imagine speaking against the Philly mob, many people thought. We’ll see in due time, Trea Turner also replied.

And the Philly crowd didn’t agree with the Diamondbacks, a floundering club that’s down 0-2 in its series right now.

On the sidelines of the Phillies’ 10-0 victory against the Arizona Diamondbacks, Trea Turner notably hit a home run in the first inning which gave his team the lead… and gas to the fans.

The Phillies never looked back. Kyle Schwarber notably became the most prolific left-handed hitter in history (along with Reggie Jackson) with his 17th and 18th career home runs.

This ensures that the Phillies continue their work of destruction. After all, the club has been destroying everything since the start of the series.

The club’s 19 home runs since the start of the series are something. The club’s collective OPS of .941 is also more than exceptional.

Note also that the club has six home runs in two games since the start of the championship series. In four championship series games, there have been 12 home runs in total.

Do the math: the Astros (3), Rangers (2) and DBacks (1) have as many combined as the Phillies alone. #Wow

For four matches, that is to say the four matches at home following the club’s setback during the famous match #2 in Atlanta (the match Atta Boy Harper), the Phillies hit no less than 15 long balls.

Over four playoff games, this is obviously a record. This was made possible when Kyle Schwarber hit his second home run of the game.

The previous record was 14. It was set when Schwarber hit his first home run of the game a few dozen minutes before…

The pitchers are also doing very well. They have only given up six runs in their last four games, the games where the 15 home runs were hit.

In fact, since the start of the series, the Phillies have (by far) the best collective earned run average. At 1.39, it’s not even close.

Note that the Texas Rangers have the second best offense and the second best pitching staff in the playoffs this year at the moment.

Note that they too lead their current series 2-0.

Tonight, starting at 8:03 p.m., they will try to push the Astros to the brink at home. Cristian Javier and Max Scherzer will cross swords.

Will the Astros spice up a series that isn’t close at all this year?
