It will ultimately be a month. At least. This Wednesday, the Colts placed Anthony Richardson on the injured list.
A measure which officially deprives him of his team’s next four matches. The quarterback is hit in the shoulder. More specifically, he suffers from an acromioclavicular sprain.
According to ESPN, the Colts consulted the medical profession at length. Verdict: Richardson is expected to be out between four and eight weeks. At the moment, it hasn’t even been determined whether he will need surgery or not.
Starting four times, Anthony Richardson has only finished one game in 2023. In the first week, it was his knee that forced him to throw in the towel. He then suffered a concussion in his second outing, before injuring his shoulder in Week 5.
Anthony Richardson hit, Gardner Minshew to the rescue, déjà vu
As with every Richardson outing, Gardner Minshew will take over. And so far, he’s doing pretty well.
Since the start of the season, Minshew has completed 68.7% of his passes for 553 yards, 2 touchdowns and no interceptions.
While no one expected much from them, the Colts are 3 wins and 2 losses in a very open division. In the coming weeks, they will face the Jaguars, Browns, Saints and Panthers. Next, Anthony Richardson will potentially be eligible for a return. If his health permits.
