The former Rams receiver is sent to the Falcons.
Desmond Ridder will have a new target. The Falcons and Rams found common ground for Van Jefferson. According to Ian Rapoport for NFL Media, the receiver is sent to Georgia in exchange for an exchange of late draft picks. Atlanta takes the sixth from the Rams while Los Angeles takes the seventh from the Falcons.
Jefferson’s playing time, already low, was in danger of melting like snow in the Californian sun. The return of Cooper Kupp, and the emergence of Puka Nacua pushes him towards the exit. This is evidenced by his statistics at the start of the season. Jefferson was targeted only 15 times, for 8 balls caught, and 108 yards in four games.
In Atlanta, he strengthens a squad of receivers lacking a productive target, little helped by a quarterback in difficulty. The Falcons hope that their new 27-year-old receiver will be able to reproduce his 2021 season. That year, Van Jefferson ran for 802 yards and scored 6 touchdowns.
