Even though the series between the Houston Astros and the Minnesota Twins was moving to Minneapolis, the latter knew they had to come out strong, otherwise their chances would dwindle.
And that’s exactly what they did. From the first round, Carlos Correa’s leadership translated into results, his double scoring Jorge Polanco.
Then, in their next turn at bat, the Twins did it again thanks to the two-run long ball coming off the bat of Kyle Farmer, with outfielder Yordan Alvarez not even moving from his stance.
Result of the races after two: 3-0 in favor of the Twin Cities, Framber Valdez struggling for a rare time during a fall dance match.
The score remained unchanged until the start of the fifth inning, when Carlos Correa came to the plate with the bases all loaded.
Once again, he proved his superiority over his former teammate George Springer in important moments, producing two runs with a timely single and chasing Valdez from the game.
Then, at the start of the sixth inning, Quebecer Édouard Julien entered the game with the bases loaded and the latter answered the call by producing a run thanks to a single. Carlos Correa, however, was pinned at the plate on the same play, ending the threat.
It was then 6-0 for the Twins with Pablo Lopez in full possession of his means.
Despite Alvarez’s long home run in the eighth inning, the rest of the duel was a formality, with Minnesota sailing to a 6-2 victory and leveling the series at one.
The two teams will face off once again on Tuesday, this time live from Target Field. For the occasion, Christian Javier will be Dusty Baker’s right-hand man, while Sonny Gray will automatically be for the Twins.
