Yesterday, in major league baseball, we were treated to one of the last four-game playoff days of the season.
This could happen again on Wednesday, if there is no sweep in the American, moreover.
As you can see, the Rangers, Astros and Phillies all won their first game before the start of the 9 p.m. game, which was the Dodgers and DBacks.
And let’s just say that the case of the Dodgers, who lost 11-2, was resolved fairly quickly.
I mentioned it yesterday, but Clayton Kershaw really wasn’t in good shape. He gave up six runs in 1/3 inning, which is his worst career start.
It was not, as manager Dave Roberts said, due to injury that the great pitcher collapsed. He will be available for match #4, if it takes place.
Meanwhile, in Arizona, Merrill Kelly delivered. He pitched for over six innings giving up only three hits and no earned runs.
He killed five guys.
What’s fascinating is that even taking away Kershaw’s six points, we still see that the DBacks won 5-2.
It’s good for confidence and to exhaust LA’s next generation
Three runs were scored against Emmet Sheehan, who finished the fourth inning after Kershaw, and runs were scored late in the game as well.
In the seventh, Alek Thomas hit a long ball after an at-bat that lasted no less than 14 shots. Wow.
Note that the Dodgers’ two runs came when Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman crossed home plate after a hit by Will Smith.
The two teams will face off Monday at 9 p.m. at Dodger Stadium. Zac Gallen and Bobby Miller will be on the mound for the occasion.
