First winner, and successful, for Chris Paul with the Warriors

Chris Paul admitted it was always a little weird to hear his name being cheered by the fans at the Chase Centerbut the playmaker, starting alongside Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins and Kevon Looney (in the absence of Draymond Green) for this first preseason match against the Lakers, on their side deprived of LeBron James, has quickly returned to his habits.

A little hand-to-hand with the pivot allowed him to get a short mid-range shot from the baselineto score his first basket under his new colors.

In 13 minutes on the pitch, Chris Paul finished with 6 points at 2/4 shooting, 5 assists, 4 rebounds and +6 +/-while he continually played with Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Kevon Looney.

“Chris is amazing” liked Steve Kerr. “He keeps the game simple, and he’s such a good passer. There’s a nice rhythm to watch as a coach, because you know he’s going to make the right choice, time and time again. He knows when we need to calm down and put something in place.or speed up, because he feels the rhythm of the match.”

Jonathan Kuminga, Dario Saric and Brandin Podziemski interesting

With three guards, a winger and a pivot, the Warriors could have suffered in rebounding but on the contrary they held up well against Anthony Davis (15 points, 5 rebounds) and company. In the end, they even largely won the battle under the circles (60 to 46), even if the large minutes of the substitutes changed the perspective.

“It’s just preseason” continues the coach. “So we don’t see teams trying to use advantageous duels. But this group (from “small ball”) held up pretty well defensively. »

Steve Kerr could generally be satisfied with the evening, concluded with a victory (125-108) for the first time for Chris Paul. Notably because that Jonathan Kuminga was very aggressive and well present on the rebound (24 points, 8 rebounds but 5 turnovers) and that the recruits seem to stick well to the local style of play.

Dario Saric (6 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists in 15 minutes) thus seems perfect as a replacement pivot capable of serving as an offensive point of support, while rookie Brandin Podziemski (11 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists) also showed some nice things in the lead, he who had nevertheless experienced a complicated Summer League.
