Mets: GM Billy Eppler has resigned

The New York Mets recently hired David Stearns as the first president of baseball operations in franchise history.

Result? CEO Billy Eppler, in office for two years, has lost his powers. With a boss over his head, he was no longer the one reporting directly to Steve Cohen.

And that doesn’t suit him.

For what? Because the CEO has just resigned, leaving Stearns free to move forward.

The whole thing came as a surprise to his bosses, who believed he was going to keep his job.

That said, when you are hired as CEO without a president and the recipe changes… it is normal that he is not satisfied.

Remember that Stearns made the decision to fire Buck Showalter, the group’s manager, before having had discussions with him. Did this insult Eppler? Who knows.

Eppler was the GM for two years, but he put together the most disappointing team in history due to expectations.

Details to come…
