Diamondbacks: another comeback to sweep the Brewers

Last night, the Arizona Diamondbacks played a prank on the Milwaukee Brewers by defeating them in the first game of the series. It was a huge gain for the DBacks with the idea that they were facing Corbin Burnes and using the weakest of their three starters in Brandon Pfaadt.

It was therefore with their ace pitcher, Zac Gallen, that the Arizona team tried to complete the sweep this evening.

On the other hand, in the first inning (just like yesterday), the Brewers wanted to set the tone. Gallen quickly in troubleand the Brewers took advantage.

Sal Frelick and Willy Adames each drove in a run to give the home side a two-run lead.

On the other side, Freddy Peralta was in perfect control on the mound, having not allowed a single hit to his opponents during the first four innings.

A bit like yesterday, therefore, the Brewers seemed comfortable… but.

Throughout the year, the Diamondbacks showed character by making comebacks by the ton. THE Answerbacks also hit the Brewers yesterday, and again today, they didn’t let it get them down.

Even after seeing Gabriel Moreno leave the match due to a head injury (it seemed Really in bad shape), the visitors put on their work boots. Alek Thomas ended Peralta’s no-hitter in the fifth inning with a solo homer.

And in the sixth inning, things really got out of hand for the Brewers. The club put runners in position to score, and in the end, Ketel Marte gave the club the lead again.

Once again, therefore, the Answerbacks put on a show.

A poor throw from reliever Abner Uribe allowed Tommy Pham to cross the plate, and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. subsequently drove in the Diamondbacks’ fifth run.

Evil tongues will say that Gurriel Jr. produced more runs than the entire Jays team today, but oh well.

Meanwhile, Gallen recovered after a difficult first round. He pitched six solid innings without allowing a single run in the last five.

And behind him, the next generation rose again for a second consecutive evening. Ryan Thompson pitched a great seventh inning, and even though Kevin Ginkel found himself in hot water in the eighth, Andrew Saalfrank came to save him.

He was helped by his defense, too, but the left-hander did an excellent job in his 11th career outing in the Majors.

In the ninth inning, Paul Sewald came in to close the books. The Brewers placed two runners on the trail, but in the end, the big acquisition from the last trade deadline made sure to finish the job.

Just like the Rangers and the Twins earlier today, the Diamondbacks swept the Brewers.

It will therefore be against a division rival that the autumn course of the Answerbacks will continue, while the club will have an appointment with the Los Angeles Dodgers in the division series.

The task will be more difficult, but the Diamondbacks have proven during this series that they have the character to face and beat anyone in any situation.

We will monitor the state of health of Gabriel Moreno, obviously, but the fact that Merrill Kelly did not have to throw is a big positive point. He is likely to pitch Game #1 against the Dodgers, and Gallen should be ready for Game #2.

As for the Brewers, the club really lacked opportunism throughout the series, and its excellent pitching staff was not enough to fill the offensive gaps. Yes, it’s the same story as every year in their case.
