Without much surprise, James Harden skipped the traditional “media day”. The 2018 MVP is therefore not present to answer questions from the Philadelphia press, on the eve of the opening of the “training camp”.
As this is part of his contractual obligations, the leader could thus be fined by the NBA. But the big question is whether James Harden will be present for the team’s training camp, which begins tomorrow in Colorado, or whether he will continue his standoff with Daryl Morey…
Since he explains that he “wants nothing more to do with the Sixers”it is not impossible.
He still wants to be traded
“He continues to want to be traded and we continue to work with his agent to find the best solution for the 76ers and all parties” replied Daryl Morey regarding the situation.
According to ESPN, the exchange trail is however clogged, the negotiations with the Clippers not being particularly productive, and the other franchises not rushing to the gate.
Daryl Morey did not want to answer when asked if James Harden would be fined. But we remember that his contract is structured in the same way as that of Ben Simmons. He therefore received 8.9 million dollars (25% of his total salary of 35.6 million) on July 1 and must still receive 8.9 million dollars this Monday.
Will Philadelphia’s leaders therefore block the payment of this $8.9 million if James Harden chooses to boycott his team’s training camp?
