That’s it: the 2023 MLB season is over. This therefore means that the series duels are determined, with a view to the first round.
Here’s what it looks like:
- Blue Jays v. Twins
- Rangers v. Rays
- Diamondbacks v. Brewers
- Marlins v. Phillies
The Orioles, Astros, Braves and Dodgers, all of whom have had great seasons, will wait patiently to see who wins the series. wild card.
This all starts on Tuesday. I take this opportunity to tell you that Monday evening, Passion MLB will be LIVE on Facebook to answer your questions about the series.
Brief. All this to say that in the coming days, the attention will be on the guys in the playoffs (with good reason), but what has happened over the past six months deserves to be highlighted.
So here are some facts to remember.
First, let’s note that to the surprise of everyone who hasn’t followed baseball in recent months, Luis Arraez is the National’s hitting champion.
He hit .354 after hitting .316 last year in Minnesota.
If the Twins are happy with Pablo Lopez, the fact remains that their former player is really something.
DJ LeMahieu has already won the batting title in both leagues, but Arraez is the first in history to do so in two consecutive seasons.
Ronald Acuna Jr. and Freddie Freeman (.337 and .331) are next and we have to go further to find the American champion: Yandy Diaz at .330.
Corey Seager (.327) got out of contention today with his 0-for-4.
In terms of OPS (power and presence on the trail), only three players are above 1,000: Shohei Ohtani (1,066), Corey Seager (1,013) and Ronald Acuna Jr. (1,012).
Since Acuna Jr. played 159 games instead of 135 or 119, it carries a little more weight.
Acuna Jr. is one of six MLB players with at least 40 home runs. His teammate Matt Olson is the only one with at least 50 circuits (54) this year.
Shohei Ohtani (44) leads the American.
Note that his 139 RBIs (21 more than Pete Alonso) are also a record this year. He is a big reason for his team’s success.
Three Braves players have at least 40 home runs. That explains why the Braves joined the 2019 Twins for the all-time lead with 307 home runs.
This explains the big season for the Braves, who will have a lot to do to get out of the National with the Dodgers who are also powerful.
The club has four players with more than 100 products and was looking for its fourth season (forgetting 2020) of at least 100 wins. This is unprecedented in history.
But at least the Braves’ ammo is also interesting. The team’s .501 slugging average this season is an MLB record.
In fact, several Braves players have led the MLB in an individual category… and not just in batting. Spencer Strider was also very good. His 20 wins and 281 strikeouts are good.
Among pitchers, Blake Snell has the best earned run average in MLB – by far – with his 2.25. It is really good.
Gerrit Cole (2.63) leads in the American.
- Bryce Harper fined.
- Miguel Cabrera took Spencer Torkelson’s glove to play today.
- Here are the match times this week.
- The Astros are proud to have won the division.
