Sacrificed by the Bucks to recruit Damian Lillard, Jrue Holiday will not play for the Blazers. At 33, the former All-Star will soon be transferred, and if possible to a title candidate. His “two-way player” profile obviously interests the best teams in the league, and the Boston Globe reports interest from the Celtics.
This is not a surprise since Brad Stevens, the president of the franchise, is very active, and Marcus Smart was not replaced at the lead after the arrival of Kristaps Porzingis. As last June, the Celtics could offer a “package” around Malcolm Brogdon, but it will take more to snatch Holiday.
A return to the Sixers?
Two other tracks, still to the East, are mentioned. There is the Heat, who therefore missed Lillard, but who could console themselves with Holiday. Except that the Blazers were already not excited by Miami’s offer for Lillard, and we imagine that Pat Riley will have nothing better to offer than an offer centered around Tyler Herro.
Finally, there is Philadelphia, and it can be a very serious avenue. First because Holiday started his career there and it would be a way of closing the loop, but also because James Harden requested his transfer. No one imagines Harden joining the Blazers, but in a triangle trade, the Sixers could make a very good deal in getting Holiday back.
