Wolves expect ‘monstrous season’ from Anthony Edwards

Author of a 2022/23 regular season averaging 24.6 points, All-Star for the first time in February, then sparkling in the playoffs (31.6 points per game) against the Nuggets, Anthony Edwards continued his rise in power during the been with Team USA.

The Wolves guard was quite simply the best American player at the World Cup, averaging 18.9 points and 4.6 rebounds. He is on the rise even though he has only just celebrated his 22nd birthday. The best seems to be yet to come.

“He’s a good guy and so are the people around him,” notes Tim Connelly, president of the Wolves, The Athletic. “He loves the city, the franchise. He and Chris Finch have a special bond. He’s also a good teammate, which isn’t always the case in this day and age, especially at his age. This is an exception. He encourages the whole team and we are extremely lucky to have him with us. I think he’s going to have a monster year. »

“In the best physical shape of his life”

Minnesota did not hesitate to extend Anthony Edwards this summer with a huge contract of five seasons and 260 million dollars, making him the new boss of a group that still includes Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert. Clearly, he now has the keys to the truck.

“His work ethic has been incredible this offseason,” continues the leader. “He is in the best physical shape of his life. He is looking forward to taking the next step with the players on our team and growing with them. He quickly senses if things are not sincere, so the challenge we gave him was to allow him to follow his path, in his own way. »
