Grant Williams: “Ime Udoka changed my career”

In Boston, Grant Williams will have known three coaches: Brad Stevens, Ime Udoka and Joe Mazzulla. Before discovering Jason Kidd with the Mavericks, whom he joined this summer, the former Celtics winger repeated his admiration for Ime Udoka.

“Ime is a guy who talks a lot, who is very communicative about what he wants you to do, but he is also very critical of you and supportive” says Grant Williams about his former coach. “He offers the best of both when it comes to coaching and communication. But he’s also very good with systems. It is the easiest to understand. He is the coach that suits me best because he is not only a former player, but also an outstanding competitor.”

In Dallas, he will also play under the orders of a former player with Jason Kidd. A real competitor too, who has won everything, and at all levels. But Grant Williams really emphasizes the impact of Ime Udoka.

“I will always speak highly of him because he changed my career, he changed the way I saw myself and the way I played. So he’s one of my favorite coaches, if not my favorite. »
