At the Pelicans, Kaiser Gates will finally get a glimpse of the NBA

Everything comes in time to those who wait, and Kaiser Gates will have waited quite a bit before having his first opportunity to show himself in the NBA. Undrafted upon leaving Xavier in 2018, the winger has since continued seasons in the G-League, with a stint at Hapoel Jerusalem in 2021/22.

Passed by the Windy City Bulls (2018/19), the Maine Celtics (2019/20) then the Long Island Nets (2020/21 and 2022/23) where he comes out of a season with 12.3 points at 47.2% at 3- points and 5.7 rebounds on average, Kaiser Gates has just commit to the Pelicans via a “ two-way contract “.

This will allow him to continue his career with the G-League team affiliated with the New Orleans franchise, the Birmingham Squadron, but also potentially to appear in the first team.

After fullback Dereon Seabron. Kaiser Gates is the second “two-way contract” signed by the Pelicans, who can therefore still recruit one between now and the resumption.

Two-way contract : Designed to create a new bridge between the NBA and the G-League, this type of contract allows each team to secure the services of two or three additional players, to develop them mainly in their affiliated development league franchise but also up to 50 matches in the NBA.
