Cade Cunningham determined to take a step forward

The second season of Cade Cunningham was short, very short: twelve matches. The Pistons player was hit in the shin, then, despite his concerns about surgery, operated. He therefore almost spent the entire 2022/23 financial year in the infirmary. A new experience for him, but not useless.

“I think I learned a lot about myself, the team and the NBA, which will help me for the upcoming season,” he announces to ClutchPoints. “It was hard, I had never experienced something like this, a big injury with a long rehabilitation. But I saw things from another point of view during this year, the perspective with the teammates was different. It’s a combination of things that I will be able to apply this season. »

He already did it in part this summer, by participating in the Team USA training camp. Cade Cunningham was part of the “Select Team” present to prepare the players selected for the World Cup and he would have shone.

“It was an honor to be invited for this, after a twelve-game season, an injury and an operation,” he declares. “I hadn’t played since my injury but I wanted to be there, do these training sessions and these matches. Iron sharpens iron and being able to play with so much talent in the room allows you to bring out the best in everyone. Everyone can confirm this. »

Enjoying the fruits of his rehabilitation and his experience with the American team is the Detroit player’s objective for next season.

“I want to be healthy and available for my team, that’s the most important thing. And even more important: winning matches. I want to take a step forward next season and bring this team closer to the level necessary to aim for the title. »
