Will this season finally be the right one for Ben Simmons ? Since his arrival at the Nets, after an endless standoff with the Sixers, the former All-Star has spent much more time in the infirmary than on the field. But this time, he assures us, he is ready to resume the course of his career!
“I would say the hardest part was not being able to do my job fully. I never made excuses, I never tried to say anything about what was happening.” explains Ben Simmons to Fox 5. “But I was injured at the time, so I did what I could at the time. I owe a debt to everyone, the fans, and I owe it to myself to get back to the level where I need to be. That’s what I did this summer.”
Ben Simmons is happy to play with unselfish players
This is not the first time we have been told that Simmons is free of his back problems, but here, he assures us, he has not felt this good in a very long time.
” I feel very good. I think this was the first summer where I really had to get my health back together and get back on the right path.”assures Simmons. “I’m very excited to play in Brooklyn. And then we have a great team, a great coach with Jacque Vaughn. So I’m very excited. I think this year will be completely different from the previous two.”
What appeals to him is the choice to trust altruistic players. “Bling bling” is over in Brooklyn! Return to a blue-collar workforce. “I think it’s playing with guys who are easy to play with, who only have one goal, which is to win. I don’t think the guys have too many individual goals. The team comes first and the identity that Jacque Vaughn and Sean Marks (the GM) are putting together is incredible. »
The confidence to play as a playmaker
It remains to be seen what position Simmons will play in since there is already Spencer Dinwiddie at the playmaker position… The Australian reports that he had the assurance of playing position 1. “That’s what I know… Even if people try to make me play power forward, because everyone is a bit of a GM in their head, I’m a playmaker,” he concludes. “I think that with the team we have, we are well on our way to having a good run. Get ready for a big year. I think it will be exciting. We’re going to have a lot of fun and get back to Brooklyn basketball.”
