As we know, the New York Yankees’ season has been in the water for several weeks, they who could finish last in the East Division of the American League for the first time since 1990.
It is therefore time to move on to the time of experiments. And that’s what the Bombardiers are doing.
Indeed, the New York roster will recall prospect Jasson Dominguez to the Majors when the rosters drop from 26 to 28 players on Sept. 1, according to MLB.com’s Bryan Hoch.
A first good thing GM Brian Cashman did in 2023…
When he makes his debut, Dominguez will be the youngest Yankees player to make the jump since Melky Cabrera in 2005.
The 20-year-old hitter had recently been promoted to the Triple-A level, appearing in eight games and maintaining a .444 batting average and hitting three long pitches. Previously, the Martian had posted a .254 average with 15 home runs and 37 stolen bases in AA.
His nickname “Martian” comes from the explosive athletic traits he has displayed so far that he will be able to put to good use in Major League Baseball.
Dominguez won’t be the only one to rise to the highest level in baseball, however, as young catcher Austin Wells will also be promoted to the Majors on Friday, according to The Athletic’s Chris Kirschner.
Here’s what the Yankees roster could look like in September:
Jason Dominguez CF
Aaron Judge RF
Gleyber Torres 2B
Giancarlo Stanton DH
Austin Wells C
DJ LeMahieu 1B
Anthony Volpe SS
Isiah Kiner-Falefa LF
Oswald Peraza 3B
We are far from line-up which foreshadowed so many good things at the start of this campaign. But at the very least, the right decisions are made when we speak.
