Like Rudy Gobert on X (ex Twitter), the French basketball family is at the bedside of Ludovic Vaty, plunged into a coma after a cardiac arrest which occurred during training with his TOAC club (Nationale 2). Aged 32, the former international had put an end to his professional career after doctors had detected a heart condition in him. It was 10 years ago when Vaty was one of the greatest hopes of French basketball.
Trained in Abymes like Mickaël and Florent Piétrus or Michel Morandais, Vaty had won almost everything with the French youth teams such as the gold medals at the European U16 and U18 championships, but also a bronze medal at the U19 World Cup. .
MVP of the first Leaders Cup, Vaty first cut his teeth at the Federal Center before joining Pau-Orthez. Passed then by Orleans then the BCM, the West Indian has 9 selections in the French team.
