New twist in the soap opera James Harden ! Hours after being fined $100,000 by the NBA, the Sixers star back received support from the NBPA (National Basketball Players Association), known to be the players’ union.
In a press release, the players’ association expresses its intention to lodge a complaint against this sanction, believing that the Sixers player had not broken the rules in his remarks.
“We deeply disagree with the league’s decision to sanction James Harden for comments made recently that we believe do not violate the rule prohibiting public trade requests. We intend to file a claim and have the matter heard by our mediator”, wrote the NBPA.
To defend Harden, the union will therefore try in turn to play on words and intentions, in the same way as James Harden tried to do with the NBA. It is customary for the players’ association to challenge the sanctions imposed by the NBA, without this influencing the NBA.
