Washington Commanders – Baltimore Ravens: 29-28
It’s the end of a memorable series. Or a series that no one will remember. Either way, it’s the end of a series. That of the games won by the Ravens in preseason. Monday night, the Commanders stopped the Baltimore counter at 24 consecutive victories in the preparation game.
Led 28-20 with 9 minutes remaining, the Washington players hung on. Jake Fromm led his team to a touchdown, before the defense forced a punt quickly. Fromm then led a new offensive that started from its own 9 yards. With 9 seconds remaining, he put Joey Slye in position for the winning field goal from 49 yards. Successful ! The defense will even intercept the Ravens’ last attempt.
Time for Sam Howell
Long before these adventures, the interest of this match resided above all in the fact of seeing Sam Howell at work. The new holder of the Commanders was entitled to a full half-time. A diesel performance, with a field goal and a punt to start. But on his last two series, the young quarterback found Antonio Gibson and Dyami Brown for touchdowns. In the end, his record (19/25, 188 yards, 2 TDs) and his output are solid.
The Ravens have played almost no holder. Not Lamar Jackson or Odell Beckham anyway. The rookie Zay Flowers, selected in the first round, still showed great things on the six short snaps he played. Enough time for an 11-yard reception and a 26-yard touchdown. Promising for air attack.
Jackson and Tyler Huntley absent, Baltimore turned to sole to have the advantage for a good part of the evening, but Jake Fromm and Joey Slye will therefore have finally ended a series that has lasted since 2015!
