Yankees blow away a four-run lead in the ninth inning

If anyone still believed in the New York Yankees’ chances of making the playoffs, their hopes are now dashed.

It’s because the Bronx Bombers have just suffered their most devastating loss of the season, in the midst of the fall dance race.

Indeed, the Yankees were in full control this afternoon against the Miami Marlins. Leading by four runs at the end of the ninth inning, everything was in place for the New York team to win their first series since July 22.

It was, however, an outright collapse that helpless Yankees fans watched.

The Marlins scored no less than five runs off number one reliever Clay Holmes and rode away with the victory like volors. It was the Yankees’ first loss with a four-run ninth-inning lead since 2011.

If manager Aaron Boone keeps his job after this embarrassing loss, I don’t know how he could ever leave New York.

It is true that the skipper can’t throw for Holmes and that he certainly didn’t tell him to sabotage the game.

But what was the idea of bringing his closer in a situation that was not a rescue situation, when with the exception of Michael King, ALL the relievers were available? This rarely gives good results.

Then, why let Holmes sink like a cactus in quicksand, when the whole world saw that the sinker of the reliever had no bite.

And the icing on the cake: in what world don’t you give Jake Burger an intentional walk with the first base unoccupied and only one out, he who has been on fire lately and even more against the Yankees?

Only Boone has the answer and I don’t want to hear it. He has hurt his team enough and needs to leave immediately.
