Top 100 NFL: Patrick Mahomes logically, Jalen Hurts on the podium

Tom Brady is gone, Patrick Mahomes can take over the throne! Not surprisingly, the Chiefs quarterback was voted number one in the 2023 NFL Top 100.

As a reminder, these are players who vote with NFL Network to establish the ranking. Mahomes signs a nice comeback, since he was only eighth in 2022.

The ranking is also largely upset compared to that of last year. Justin Jefferson is second (17th in 2022). Jalen Hurts was not even ranked twelve months ago. Here he is on the third step of the podium.

Of the Top 10 2022, there are not many people left. Mahomes, therefore. And his teammate Travis Kelce, who climbs five places to reach fifth place. Along with Chris Jones, that makes three Chiefs members among the top ten players in the league according to players.

Falling Legends

Aaron Rodgers may have revived the Jets’ hopes, but he no longer inspires NFL players. Here he is falling to 51st place (3rd in 2022). Aaron Donald (11th), Davante Adams (13), Jalen Ramsey (36), Cooper Kupp (47), TJ Watt (27) leave the first ten places, sometimes very violently.

This ranking has the merit of putting defenders in the spotlight a little more than that of sales of derivative products. Here, Nick Bosa and Micah Parsons invite themselves among the best. There are eight defenders in the Top 20.

Let everyone be reassured, this ranking has not always acted as an oracle. It is mostly a reaction to the previous season. Lamar Jackson (2020) and Cam Newton (2016), for example, did not particularly enjoy their first place in the following months.
