DeMarcus Cousins: ‘I don’t see how Chris Paul’s arrival improves the Warriors’

The arrival of Chris Paul to the Warriors is one of the most commented on of the offseason. Whether in Golden State or elsewhere, everyone has their opinion on this unexpected marriage. Even DeMarcus Cousins, sidelined since the 2021/2022 season.

The pivot, who spent a season in California and whose behavior in a locker room seems scary, is more than skeptical of this transfer.

“To tell the truth: I don’t understand it”he assures SiriusXM. “Perhaps it’s a contract story, to have more payroll the following season. But if we talk about basketball, about systems, I don’t see how that improves Golden State. He is no longer young and the Warriors have parted ways with a youngster for a veteran. I’m not taking anything away from Chris Paul, I’m just talking about this stage in his career. »

Even if he maintains his opinion and his doubts, the former All-Star does not insult the future.

” I could be wrong. He can find a second youth this summer and win the MVP or sixth man of the year trophy. Who knows ? But when I look at him at this point in his career and his contribution to this team, I don’t see the added value for the Warriors. »
